Gala Raises $170,815 For Science and Community Programs

Chefs from 14 restaurants joined the Forsyth Institute in honoring Dr. Anthony Volpe and Joanne Chang at the inaugural event A Taste & A Toast event on June 5th. The evening raised $167,000 to support Forsyth’s mission of improving oral and overall health.

Guest sampled tasting from the following renowned local restaurants. Participants included:

​Anthony R. Volpe, DDS (retired Colgate-Palmolive VP), was honored for his significant contributions to the global dental community and his advocacy on behalf of oral health research.  Dr. Volpe led Colgate’s worldwide scientific affairs program and oversaw interrelationships with all worldwide professional organizations.  He currently serves as a treasured member of the Forsyth Board of Directors.

Joanne Chang, well-known chef/ baker/restaurant owner / author was given Forsyth’s Smile Award for Community Service.  She owns and operates four success FLOUR bakeries, and the Chinese fusion restaurant Myers & Chang. Chang’ss energetic commitment to excellence extends beyond the kitchen with her broad community service, including her support of Project Place, a back-to-work homeless organization.
