Dental Research Study

ADA Forsyth Institute Center for Clinical and Translational Research is conducting a dental research study. Read the information below to see if this study pertains to you.

If you are interested and have the following conditions you may be eligible:

  • Have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes or gum disease, or both
  • Are “healthy” — not having any of the conditions listed above (no diabetes or gum disease)
  • Are between 30-70 years old
  • Not using tobacco products including cigarettes or e-cigarettes within 1 year of enrollment

Screening visit

The study requires a screening visit to determine the status of your diabetes, gums, and teeth.

Where: The Forsyth Institute Center for Clinical and Translational Research, 245 First Street, 17th Floor, Cambridge MA (Enter on 1 Athenaeum St.)

What will happen at the study screening visit?

We will:

  • Review your medical and dental history
  • Examine your teeth, gums, and mouth
  • Measure your weight, height, waist circumferences
  • Check your HbA1c status

Once you qualify and agree to participate in the study, on a single study visit:

  • Samples will be collected (blood, saliva, dental plaque)
  • Total of $250 stipend will be provided to compensate your time
