ADA Forsyth Institute Center for Clinical and Translational Research is conducting a dental research study. Read the information below to see if this study pertains to you.
If you are interested and have the following conditions you may be eligible:
- Have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes or gum disease, or both
- Are “healthy” — not having any of the conditions listed above (no diabetes or gum disease)
- Are between 30-70 years old
- Not using tobacco products including cigarettes or e-cigarettes within 1 year of enrollment

Screening visit
The study requires a screening visit to determine the status of your diabetes, gums, and teeth.
Where: The Forsyth Institute Center for Clinical and Translational Research, 245 First Street, 17th Floor, Cambridge MA (Enter on 1 Athenaeum St.)
What will happen at the study screening visit?
We will:
- Review your medical and dental history
- Examine your teeth, gums, and mouth
- Measure your weight, height, waist circumferences
- Check your HbA1c status
Once you qualify and agree to participate in the study, on a single study visit:
- Samples will be collected (blood, saliva, dental plaque)
- Total of $250 stipend will be provided to compensate your time
