Professor, Senior Director of Research Affairs
Felicitas Bidlack joined Forsyth in 2003 with a background in biology and biological anthropology. She has pursued her passion to better understand how teeth mineralize and learning from the information they contain about biology, growth, health, and exposures.
Dr. Bidlack serves as Senior Director of Research Affairs, Chair of the Appointments and Promotions Policy Committee, and Faculty advisor to the ADA Forsyth Advanced Imaging facility. She strives to generate a creative environment that empowers innovative and robust research.
Interdisciplinary and collaborative research is integral to the Bidlack laboratory, with its focus on processes that drive healthy mineral formation or cause developmental dental defects, new strategies of enamel repair, and deciphering information from teeth as biomarkers. Teeth are marvelous biological materials with beautiful, intricate structure and amazing material properties; they are records of personal health history, and biomarkers for pre- and post-natal exposures that aid in the prediction of future health risks.
